🌟 RECALL ASSESSMENTS 🌟

At Planpanion, we’ve had a productive half term developing a bank of 25 recall assessments for teachers and maths subject leaders. These are designed to help schools effectively sample pupils’ knowledge of addition, subtraction and multiplication facts.

🎧 Delivered in an auditory format using an MP3 file, each assessment includes 12–18 questions, with pupils given 5 seconds to respond to each one.

Through our work with schools and partners, we’ve found that...
🔴 Greater support is needed to strengthen pupils’ recall of addition and subtraction facts, especially with these becoming a higher priority in the new NC from 2027.
🔴 Pupils often perform well on apps or online assessments because they recognise visual patterns or remember input patterns on the keypad, rather than truly knowing the facts. This can limit their ability to apply recall confidently within maths lessons.
🔴 Some existing school assessments do not rigorously map coverage of recall facts, meaning gaps can go unidentified.

Here is an update of all of our available assessments...
